My bachelor's degree in Education, my bilingual teaching experience, and my Hispanic bi-cultural background fuel my passion to ensure quality education for all students. I believe that the Livermore School District has the academic resources for students to prepare for a successful future. We have a great high school graduation rate. I will have a greater focus on college and career readiness so that all the students prepare for a professional future built uniquely on their individual aptitudes.
I will promote student wellness and safety at our schools by encouraging mindfulness with students, staff and families. The connections with families and staff are crucial to better navigate the school system.
I will advocate for a greater emphasis on college and career readiness. I recognize the benefit of families being informed as early as possible in their child's educational pathway so they can provide better support during these formative years.
I am uniquely prepared to serve as a Livermore School Board Trustee. My bilingual and bi-cultural background along with years of experience in Livermore's education system has given me a strong pillar. I have a sense of empathy and community with people of diverse backgrounds like my own, whether they are teachers, staff, students, or parents/guardians. If elected, I am committed to working alongside fellow school board members and our new superintendent to provide leadership for students to thrive and be ready for their next journey.
My bi-cultural background is a result my upbringing and attending elementary school in Southern California, and then moving to Mexico where I studied and received my bachelor's degree in Education. After teaching bilingual education for a year in Mexico, I returned to the US and continued my education and continued my work as a teacher.
Together with my family, I have been part of the Livermore community for over 16 years. I continued being connected with my career in Education during my two son's school years. I was part of the Sunset PTO, where I got to organize fundraisers such as the Gala and the Jog-a-thon. I successfully managed the school wide Student Book Club with over 100 students for over 6 years. I joined the Mendenhall Middle School PTSA as the Treasurer and while on Hospitality I organized student events, school fundraisers and staff events. My involvement in Granada High School has been at the school library and volunteering with other end of the school year events.
I enjoy volunteering at the Library at Granada High School even after my son has graduated. I volunteered many years with the Boy Scouts Pack and Troop with my boys. I also became the treasurer of Troop 903, and it required engagement with the community. As a member of our Church I belong to the Hospitality group. I am a volunteer for Quest Science Center, where I share my knowledge about diversity and my support for an inclusive environment in the Livermore community, as well as my experience as an educator, and my passion for continued educational opportunities for everyone.
For the past seven years I've had the opportunity to work managing the Pedrozzi Young Scholars Program, where I a mentor students and guide their families/guardians as they navigate the school system during middle school and high school towards achieving college and career readiness. This has kept me connected to many schools in our district and up to date on the resources to make the college and career search approachable to many students.
I have been a Livermore resident for over 16 years, and an active member of the community. My two sons were both long-time students in the Livermore school district. Together with my husband, I have enjoyed watching them engage in the great opportunities given to them in the Bay Area.
